Lincoln Logs to be ‘Made in USA’ Again Creating Jobs in the Process
Lincoln Logs, the popular building toy created nearly a century ago by a son of architect Frank Lloyd Wright, is coming home to the U.S. Maine Gov. Paul LePage announced the logs, used by generations of kids to create miniature buildings, will be made in USA at Pride Manufacturing, a wood products company in Burnham, Maine.
Lincoln Logs has been made in China for several years but when production of the wooden pieces ramps up, possibly in November, 80 percent of the toy will be made in the USA at the plant, said Randy Dicker, senior director of manufacturing for Pride. Some plastic pieces will still be made in China.
Hatfield, Pennsylvania-based K’NEX currently holds the product license for Lincoln Logs. The company’s senior vice president of operations, Larry Fanelle, said, “We couldn’t be happier to bring these jobs back to the United States and specifically to Maine.”
Pride Manufacturing employs about 130 people and the company anticipates adding up to 10 jobs with the Lincoln Logs contract.
