Ford Adding Jobs in Chicago Area, Investing $1Billion
Ford is investing $1 billion, adding jobs at Chicago factories as it makes cuts overseas. They are investing about $1 billion in assembly and stamping plants in Chicago. The automaker is expanding production of the new Ford Explorer, Lincon Aviator, and Police Interceptor.
The expansion will add at least 500 jobs to Ford’s Chicago plants, bringing the total employees at the two factories to 5,800. Ford has plans to build out a new body shop and paint shop at the plants. They are also looking to install new tech, including robots and 3D-printing tools.
Ford is cutting thousands of jobs in Europe. They have not been able to maintain a solid footing in Europe. The $11 billion restructuring they are currently undergoing will shrink its salaried workforce of 70,000.

Made in America is what I was raised with but it is the exception rather than the norm in this day and age. The world has allowed the requirement of quality to be replaced by the demand for a cheaper price. But the problem is American manufacturers greed has driven the production facilities out of the country and the government has done nothing to prevent it. There is no competition for American craftsmanship.
